WHAT IS AN ALLUSION?
An allusion is either a direct or indirect reference to a significant person, event, time or work of literature.
VISUAL REFERENCES:
Many companies use symbols or images to enhance the meaning or purpose of the company's mission and/or product.
TEXTUAL REFERENCES:
There are common phrases that reference Greek mythology. Having an understanding of greek mythology broadens your frame of reference and helps you understand the meaning proposed by an author.
ALLUSIONS AND ADVERTISING:References to Greek myths are prevalent in our society and around the world. One place that they are often referenced is advertising. Companies use the public’s knowledge of Greek mythology and the associations they have with it to sell their products.
Those in advertising think of ways to evoke a certain feeling in consumers; as portrayed in this first video.
